Select Camps for 2012 and 2011 Birth Year Male Players
I hope everyone is enjoying the 2024-2025 hockey season so far, and that all of your players have been excelling on and off the ice throughout all of their development this winter. I am emailing you all today to inform you about the upcoming 2011's 14 Alaska High Performance Selects tryout, as well as our 2012's 13 Player Development Camp. The camp will run April 11th - April 13th at the O'Malley KellyConnect Ice Center in Anchorage, AK.
We are extremely excited about this year's camp, as this will be the 2011s first experience of competing with and against their peers through the USA Hockey Selects process. For the 2011s 14 Alaska Select camp, the players are competing to be selected to represent Alaska down at the USA Hockey Western Regional High Performance Camp in Colorado Springs, CO June 9th - June 14th. This camp will host the best players in the 2011 birth year from the Pacific District, Rocky Mountain District, and Northern Plains District. Essentially all of the best players west of the Mississippi. I have listed a link for the Western Regional High Performance Camp website below for those who want to learn more about the experience down in Colorado. Similar to the High Performance Camp in Colorado, the players will be divided up equally between teams and have a small area practice and play in 3 games that will be used for the player evaluation. There will be 1 goalie skate for the 2011 goalies as well.
The 13 camp for the 2012's is an opportunity for these young athletes to get a taste of what the USA Hockey Select Camps will be like for the future, and it is structured more for skill development and birth year specific competition as there is no player evaluation for a player selection. The 13 Camp will have 2 small area practices and play 2 games over the course of the weekend.
Registration for both camps will open Monday, February 10th and will close on March 20th. I have listed a link to the registration page below. You will also be able to find the registration link on the ASHA website Selects Page once the registration is open. There are limited player spots for the camp (8G, 24D, 32F for the 2011s and 8G, 20D, 28F for the 2012s), so please don't wait till the last second to get your player registered.
A camp schedule and rosters will be sent out to those players registered as we get closer to the camp dates and registration closes. For those trying to plan ahead for travel to Anchorage, the first on ice event for the camp will begin at 4:45pm on Friday April 11th, and the camp will conclude by 12:00pm on Sunday April 13th.
